During his life, Phil Collins deserved the love of music lovers, the recognition of his colleagues and the respect of the monarchs of his homeland, Britain. He was born on January 30, 1951 in the English city of Chisvik. The boy’s love for music began to manifest itself after the gift of his parents for his 5th birthday. The child was bought toy drums, and he began to knock on them in time with the music that sounded from the radio. Over time, the real drums replaced the toy ones, and Phil’s father had to sacrifice a garage for his work so that the house would not fall apart from endless shaking.
At school, Phil had a great opportunity to develop his acting talent as a singer Phil Collins in the drama circle, he attended all theatrical performances and at first dreamed of becoming an actor, but he still overpowered his love of music. As a schoolboy, he ended up with the other children in the extras of the movie “Evening of a Hard Day,” where the leading roles were played by the Beatles musicians. Seeing the idols of the whole globe live, the young man decided exactly which profession to choose.
After graduation, he becomes a member of the rock band Flaming Youth. The band’s debut album did not become commercially successful, and after a short tour the group broke up altogether, but this was only the first step of Collins’s career ladder.

Already in 1970, he passes a successful audition in the group Genesis. The musicians advertised singer Phil Collins for a talented drummer, who became Phil Collins. Peter Gabriel himself gave him a compliment and said that he had been looking for a musician for a long time with such an incredible sense of rhythm.
Genesis played progressive rock for intellectuals, diluted music with fragments of academic compositions, added folk melodies and jazz things. Unique arrangements, endless experiments and virtuoso performing skills made the band members aristocrats in the stream of rock.

A year later, the young talent was entrusted with an independent performance of the song “For Absent Friends”. It so happened that Genesis frontman and lead vocalist Peter Gabriel left the band in 1975. The finest hour has come for Collins – he became not only the drummer of the popular band, but also the performer of most of the group’s songs, managing to write poems for them.
He had no fear of a mass of fans, only singer Phil Collinz was enjoying the vocal performances. He overcame the fear of the stage in his youth, when he was engaged in a theater studio. Now it’s time for him to really take off.
Still very young Phil Collins did not give the group managers the opportunity to control themselves, and also stopped the attempts of colleagues in the team to impose on him their idea of creativity. Thanks to Phil’s toughness and perseverance, the band that was on the verge of extinction breathed the fresh wind, perked up and became a legend of rock music.
Phil Collins was an unusual rocker. He did not abuse alcohol, did not take drugs, did not participate in sexual orgies, did not smash hotel rooms during the tour, did not arrange public scandals and debauches.

His first composition “In the Air Tonight” rose to the second line of the English charts, and in the States the song entered the top twenty. His debut album, entitled “Face Value,” was more successful than any Genesis CD. At the same time, he also created projects in conjunction with the Brand X jazz ensemble. In 1985, he received the Grammy statuette for the album “No Jacket Required”.
